Ange Postecoglou’s bid to take Celtic coaches John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan to Tottenham Hotspur with him is hanging in the balance.
The Australian wants to take his former No. 2 and assistant manager with him to Spurs. Celtic are unhappy that Postecoglou is looking to headhunt some of the staff he inherited. The English Premier League side have made official approaches to Celtic but have been cold-shouldered by the Hoops. Kennedy and Strachan are both keen to make the move with Postecoglou but must wait for permission and compensation to be thrashed out by Celtic.
So far that hasn't happened and Postecoglou could be forced to move on unless he gets a quick answer. Postecoglou is set to keep Ryan Mason, who he has inherited, as part of his coaching staff with Tottenham. Spurs agreed a multi-million compensation package to take the Australian from Celtic after he delivered a domestic treble. It remains to be seen if Celtic’s position changes when they advance in their own managerial search.
Record Sport broke the story that Manchester City assistant coach Enzo Maresca was a leading candidate Celtic wanted to talk to. An approach to speak to the Italian will be made after today’s Champions League final between City and Inter.
Brendan Rodgers has also been linked with a return, while Bodo Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen has also been linked, along with AZ Alkmaar boss Pascal Jansen.
