John Fury reveals why he wants 'nothing to do with' Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul fight

John Fury has criticised Jake Paul as negotiations continue for the rescheduling of Tommy Fury's fight against the American YouTuber. His son Tommy withdrew from the original fight due to a combination of injury and illness and negotiations are reportedly ongoing for a fight between the pair to take place this summer.

However, there appear to be tensions between the camps which are reflected in Fury Sr's latest comments regarding the progress of talks. Both fighters are undefeated and the fight is said to be taking place on August 6th at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Despite claims that a fight agreement is '90% done' coming out of the Paul camp in recent days, John has now put doubt on that, explaining the current situation in an explosive video posted to Instagram. The former fighter said that he wants nothing to do with the fight in a long message.

John said: “Quick video – people are mentioning me, saying that I’m saying there’s negotiations in place for Tommy to fight this clown from overseas, it’s not true.. I’m having nothing to do with this at all because it’s a pile of s***.

“I don’t like anybody associated to those people over there. They’re nothing but a pack of t****** YouTubers, and I’m not interested in it one bit, in any way, shape or form.

“So people, hear this, don’t keep using my name saying that I’m saying this and I’m saying that because it’s not true. I want nothing to do with this farce at all. Not now, not ever. Have a pleasant evening.”

Paul's coach Danny Smith provided a rather different view, saying that a deal was close but that the hold up was in the Fury camp, explaining: “I'd probably say that we're around 90% done but we're just waiting on their end. We're good on our end. Whatever particulars that need to be worked out there end that's what we're waiting on," he told Vegas Insider.
