John Fury believes his son Tyson's rival Oleksandr Usyk is not known to fans in the UK despite his wins over Anthony Joshua.
Fury's son Tyson is set to return to the ring this weekend in a voluntary WBC title defence against Derek Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as he eyes a shot at Usyk in 2023. The Ukrainian star defeated Joshua in a heavyweight rematch in August, and immediately called out the 'Gypsy King' following the final bell as he eyes a shot at becoming undisputed champion.
The British star has been a regular critic of his fellow undefeated champion frequently branding him a "middleweight" in response to his glowing performances. And his father John believes the Ukrainian star is not interested in securing a fight next year and is eyeing a number of further paydays before any potential showdown.
"Half of Britain do not know who the Ukrainian rabbit is," Fury Sr told Mirror Fighting via FreeBets.com. "I will call him a rabbit because that’s how small he is. At the end of the day Tyson will show what he does with rabbits. Skin them and eats them. You hear a lot of stuff going to and fro on social media.. It is all rubbish and it doesn't hold any water.
'The Ukrainian rabbit will need to think long and hard about boxing Tyson. When you see him up close and personal, you have to have minerals. I don’t think he wants to jump in with Tyson, I think he wants a couple more paydays first before it is over for him. Big guys beat small guys that have never been disproven ever. On the law of averages, a good big man will beat a good little man."
Fury's son Tyson will be expected to prevail in his test against Chisora with Usyk expected to be at ringside in London. Talks are already underway over a potential clash, with the fight initially promised for this year before Fury's rival elected to take a break until 2023.

The undefeated champion is confident it will be a "mismatch" if he does get his shot against Usyk, providing a fight is agreed next year. He told Queensberry Promotions YouTube channel : "I’ll tell you now what people are going to say when I splatter Usyk; they’re going to say ‘he was too small! It was a mismatch! He was never any good to Tyson.
"It was a mismatch.’ Whatever. And then we move on. How am I going to get credit for beating a man half me size? It’s all for me to lose and nothing to gain. ‘Oh, he beat a guy half of his size. Oh, [Usyk] beat the bodybuilder [Joshua]'."
