John Fury advises son Tommy to walk away from Jake Paul fight despite new offer

John Fury has told son Tommy to walk away from his potential fight with Jake Paul as negotiations continue to stall.

Fury's son, Tommy, is in talks with YouTube star Paul over a third attempt to settle their rivalry in the ring next year, following his recent exhibition. The pair were first set to clash in August in 2021 but Fury was forced to withdraw after breaking his rib, before a second attempt at making fight collapsed this year after the Briton was banned from travelling to the US.

Renewed hopes of a clash began with Fury's team reaching an agreement to stage a clash with Paul next February, according to the content creator. However, the British star has this week missed Paul's deadline to produce a fight contract, although Global Titans have since made an offer to revive talks.

But Fury's father, John, has alleged that Paul would reject an offer of $1million guaranteed, which would still not convince his rival to accept the clash. “You could offer him [Paul] a million dollars, he doesn’t want to fight Tommy," Fury Sr told Mirror Fighting courtesy of FreeBets.com. "He just wants to wear the Fury name out from his brand. I’ve said to Tommy, we are going to move on ‘don’t do any more tweets or anything else’.

"There is other big people we can talk to, they need to give Tommy what he is worth. He [Paul] is the A-side to absolutely jack s***. He is A-side to jumping off bridges and filming daft stuff for viewing figures. Listen, I'm afraid it is going to be the fight that never happens. Tommy is a fighting man, he is trained to fight anybody. He is doing really well. If others can’t see the potential in Tommy, they need to go Specsavers. I am just sick of talking about that coward I was not interested in.

"I took pity on him, he is a bum in my eyes. Jake Paul, I just think he is terrified of us. They won’t pay Tommy what he is worth, he [Paul] thinks he is A-side, the Furys are the biggest name in boxing. He is a YouTuber, he has made his money from other avenues. Whatever it is with gloves on, we are in the lead because we are pugilists."

Fury and Paul recently clashed during the former Love Islander's exhibition appearance in Dubai, where Paul hurled insults at his bitter foe after his failure to KO the late-notice opponent. It appears a fight looks further from completion than ever, with no fresh news since Paul appeared to reject the latest offer.

And Fury Sr believes this fight will reach the same fate as other son Tyson's long-awaited heavyweight clash with Anthony Joshua. "The kid [Paul] doesn't want to fight Tommy," he continued. "I think this is going to be a case of the fight that never happens. It is another Tyson-AJ, this fight. One man wants to fight, the other doesn't.

"I don't think it is about the money, I just think he doesn't want to lose to Tommy. Tommy will knock him out, he had to put his brakes on in that exhibition, the guy has done us a favour at late notice."
