Liverpool-born comedian and national treasure John Bishop has wished his wife Melanie a happy birthday as he gushes his love for her in an Instagram post.
Sharing a seemingly 'throwback' photo of his actress spouse, donning a pair of sunglasses and blue shirt, the funny-man captioned the image, "Nobody knows me like you.... you are everything its that simple. Happy birthday babe xxx."
Despite exhibiting their happy marriage on social media, Bishop, who currently fronts his self-titled John Bishop Show on ITV on Saturday night, has revealed in recent years that the pair encountered a severe rocky patch in their relationship, even causing them to split up back in 2014.

He recently told The Mirror, "There was no huge fight or revelation about someone else. We just grew apart. Maybe it had something to do with having three kids so quickly. For six years there was always someone in the house in nappies. Our marriage just faded. You realise that the person you wanted to spend your life with no longer wants to be with you, or you with them. Suddenly it felt like walking round the house with drawing pins in your shoes."
Bishop, who has recently adopted the role of the thirteenth time-lord Jodie Whittaker's space travelling sidekick in Doctor Who, luckily rekindled a romantic relationship with his wife some months later, as he struggled with the idea of Mel moving on with someone else.
The pair got back together because Mel visited a comedy club to find John telling jokes about murdering her and keeping her head in the fridge because he "knew I’d miss her”.
"We met up after the show," he disclosed. "And she said seeing me up there reminded her of me as I used to be. When I was a good laugh."
The pair have been married for almost 30 years now, having wed in 1993. They welcomed three sons together with their eldest, Joe, being born the following year, Luke being born in 1996 and Daniel being born in 1998.
