John Bishop has been supported by fans following the tragic death of his mother Kathleen. The 56-year-old shared the heartbreaking news in a post on Instagram on Thursday, March 23.
Alongside a photo of him and his mother, John began: "Two weeks ago my Mum came to see me in Mother Goose in Liverpool and joined in the sing a long at the end as I knew she would. This morning we said goodbye to her and we will never hear her sing again.
"As a family we are heartbroken. She was a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother and she loved us all. Next week she would have been married to my Dad for 62 years and they had a love and a friendship that was beautiful to be around.”

He then thanked hospital staff for their care of his mother. "We want to thank all of the brilliant staff at Whiston Hospital on ward 3C who could not have done more and provided exceptional care for us all.”
John concluded the post by writing: "I will never have another mother but I will be eternally grateful for being lucky enough to have had the one I did. Good night Mum, you were our sunshine." Earlier this month, the former Doctor Who companion shared a clip of his mum singing at his pantomime, Mother Goose.
Following the announcement, John was met with countless messages of support. Comedian Alan Carr responded by writing: “Oh John. So sorry for your loss.”
Meanwhile, sports presenter Gabby Logan said: “Oh John I am so sorry”. Line of Duty star Craig Parkinson, with whom he worked with on Doctor Who, commented: “So sorry for your loss Jon. Thoughts with you and @melbish1 and the family.”
Elsewhere, Welsh presenter Owain Wyn Evans said: “So sorry to hear this John.” Good Morning Britain host Suzanna Reid, among other celebrities, shared a heart emoji.
