John Bennett tells angry Rangers fans 'you really own the club' as he vows Ibrox chiefs ready to build bridges

John Bennett admits Rangers "haven't been good enough" in communicating with fans as he vowed the club are ready to build bridges.

The deputy chairman has opened up in a 17-minute in-house interview and accepts criticism aimed at the Ibrox hierarchy is "valid" and must be addressed. Fans have been left frustrated by issues such as transfer business amid expectations more signings would be made after Giovanni van Bronckhorst 's side secured Champions League qualification, and by a stuttering start to the Premiership season.

Bennett insists the Rangers board are not taking supporters for granted and maintains he is fully aware that they "really own the club". And he has promised bosses are now ready to do better in addressing concerns. He told Rangers TV: "We must accept there will always be challenges, challenged by our own support and rightly so, rightly so. They are the lifeblood, that's who really owns this club.

"I don't know about you, I was very struck by English Premier League fans and their reaction in certain clubs to that whole Super League stuff. That told the owners of those clubs who really owns the club. I'm a part owner of Rangers but I'm every bit as much an owner of Rangers as a fan, a supporter, as I am somebody who happens to own some shares. Never will we take them for granted.

"That's why I'm annoyed at some valid, valid criticism, observations, that our communication with our fans hasn't been good enough recently. Let's fix that. They own the club, they're the lifeblood. It's not just a phrase, they own the club."
