John Bennett reveals Rangers fans labelled 'wow' as Seville authorities provide glowing review

Rangers vice-chairman John Bennett insists the feedback from local authorities on the club's travelling support in Spain has been "overwhelmingly positive".

Thousands of fans from across the world descended upon Seville for Wednesday's Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt.

It ended in penalty shootout heartbreak as the German side won their first European honour since 1980, denying Rangers a first continental prize in 50 years.

Sevilla's Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium was a sea of blue at one end but several thousands more were in fanzones and bars across southern Spain's capital.

Reports have suggested that minimal arrests have been made and conduct on the whole has been good.

Bennett says the feedback given to him by the Spanish police has agreed with this, acknowledging the hurt fans feel ahead of Saturday's Scottish Cup final with Hearts.

He told Sky Sports: "Our fans have come here and they have wowed people. We've had feedback from the police and local authorities.

"They have all said 'wow’. They have been overwhelmingly positive about our fans' atmosphere and behaviour

"What I would say to the fans is that this one hurts.

"But as this great European journey comes to an end, the great journey of Glasgow Rangers continues, and it continues this weekend as we chase silverware.
