Referee John Beaton will take charge of Rangers vs Celtic on January 2.
The experienced official will be the man in the middle for the clash between the great rivals. And Willie Collum will be working alongside as the VAR match official in the first contest between the pair to have video replay available. Beaton has been in charge of multiple contests between Celtic and Rangers and his last assignment was the final fixture between the duo last season which ended in a 1-1 draw.
And now he and Collum will dovetail ahead of what will likely prove a vital day in the race for Premiership glory. Rangers sit nine points behind their fierce rivals at present and know a victory is must if Michael Beale is to take Ange Postecoglou all the way this season.
