Joey Veerman ramps up Rangers feud as PSV star revisits Champions League exit to 'mediocre' team

Fuming Joey Veerman has taken aim at Rangers once against as he branded the side "very mediocre" as he revisited PSV Eindhoven's Champions League playoff defeat to the Ibrox side.

Antonio Colak scored the crucial goal in the second leg of the playoff in the Netherlands, after Malik Tillman capitalised on some sloppy defending between PSV keeper Walter Benitez and defender Andre Ramalho to slide the ball to the Croat. However, Veerman has defiantly claimed that despite the costly error the Eredivise title hopefuls are the superior team to Rangers.

After seeing off the Dutch side the Ibrox fans Champions League dream quickly turned to a nightmare, with heavy defeats to Liverpool, Ajax and Napoli seeing the club land the unwanted record as the worst team ever in the group stages of the competition. Veerman, who was previously on Rangers radar while at Heerenveen, admits he is still not over losing to the Scottish Premiership side.

The 24-year-old said: "By far the most terrible moment of the season was losing to Rangers in the Champions League decider. And we lost to a team who were very mediocre.

"But it was our own fault. We were at home and failed to do anything about it."

Veerman has previously complained after the second leg that Rangers didn't deserve to qualify. Following the second leg, he daid: "I don't think it's fair that Rangers play in the Champions League and we don't.

"I don't think they created a single chance in Eindhoven apart from the goal. What did we do wrong? We missed two great chances before half time. We had to score them."
