Joel Embiid had the saddest way of summing up his 70-foot game-tying buzzer-beater that was too late

Joel Embiid nearly hit one of the greatest game-tying shots in NBA history.

Wait, let me correct that: Joel Embiid DID hit one of the greatest game-tying shots in NBA history … except that the final buzzer sounded on the Philadelphia 76ers’ 110-107 loss to the Boston Celtics, and therefore the shot didn’t count.

Ugh. It came right after Jayson Tatum hit an unreal shot of his own, a three-pointer to break a tie in one of the best games of the NBA season. And Embiid — as you’ll see below — has been here before with longshots that nearly go in and break the internet.

Maybe that’s why Embiid, when talking about the shot, had this to say: “Story of my life.” What a bummer:
