Joel Dommett rules himself out of hosting Love Island as he's 'on enough ITV shows'

Joel Dommett has ruled himself out of hosting Love Island as he is 'on enough TV shows' already.

Love Island's previous host, Laura Whitmore, recently quit the show due to 'elements of the show I’ve found very difficult' as well as scheduling issues.

She shared the news a few weeks after this year's series of the show, which saw Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti win, in a post on social media.

And now, fans have been speculating on who the new host could be, with many hoping for the likes of Maya Jama, Ekin-Su or Maura Higgins.

Joel was recently asked about the possibility of hosting the dating competition.

"I think I'm on enough ITV shows as it is! Whoever is going to take that place has some big shoes to fill, it'll be a lot of pressure," he revealed to new magazine.

Laura took to her Instagram to announce her departure.

She wrote on Instagram: "Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love Island. There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.

"I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline."

Instead of bombshells in the Spanish villa, the Irish presenter will turn her hand to her next TV project for ITV which will be Laura Whitmore Investigates - a documentary series.

She announced her new line of work on July 26 on her Instagram account.

Earlier this month, she made a seemingly cryptic comment about her reason to leave the presenting role as she opened up about her love for the programme.

She explained she was "proud" of what she did on the show.

Speaking about her exit from the ITV show, she said: "Love Island is a show that I love to watch, and I always want to work on shows that I enjoy. But there’s nothing more that I can do with it. There are parameters.

"When you work on the show, you can’t really talk about certain things. But I’m really proud of what I did, and proud to leave on what I think has been a brilliant series, with great winners."

Laura also expressed her love for this year's winners, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti.

She told the Evening Standard: "I'm a huge fan of Ekin-Su and Davide. I know Love Island. People love a journey. No-one wants a happy relationship, because life isn’t a happy relationship. We want to see the ups and downs."
