Joe Swash leaves Stacey and Joe viewers questioning unusual kitchen habit

Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon are currently on TV screens for their reality show - but there’s one kitchen habit which has proved particularly controversial.

The couple have invited cameras into their extravagant mock Tudor home, called Pickle Cottage, and allowed them access-all-areas as they juggle their careers with their blended family, including six children.

There has been a lot of conversation online about the show - including Swash’s treatment of Solomon - but one thing which outraged viewers was Swash spreading butter on toast with a spoon.

One Stacey fan wrote on Twitter: “Firstly, I love "Sort Your Life Out" and I like Stacey Solomon. Joe Swash hmm. I wasn't going to watch #staceyandjoe, but I gave it a try.

“No, no, and absolutely no. Seeing Swash spreading butter on toast with a spoon was more than I could bear. Switched off.”

Another heaped praise on the programme - but also picked up the unusual kitchen habit.

“Last night I watched the first ep of #StaceyAndJoe on @BBCOne with @StaceySolomon & Joe Swash,” they wrote.

“I already love them & after this I love them even more. Cameras following for 6 months as they celebrate a 2nd anniversary & Turkey holiday. Does Joe spread butter with a spoon?”

Another added: “Gold spoon say no more #staceyandjoe.”

In the the first episode of the six-part series, cracks quickly appeared as the cameras rolled.

Solomon, 35, could be seen reminding Swash, 43, who was away on a fishing trip, that they had a business meeting the next morning at 10am to discuss a perfume launch. "I'm going to try and get home for 10," he said.

This didn’t go well with the Loose Women panelist, who retorted: "What do you mean try? Otherwise I've got to change the meeting. Why is 'try my hardest' even part of that sentence?"

Him then suggesting if she woke him up he would be there went down like a lead balloon.

Solomon said that in-between having to sort their house out, get their children to school and plan for the meeting, she simply didn’t have time to do that.

Solomon was forced to do the meeting while looking after the kids (BBC) (BBC)

"He's not coming back at 10, is he?," she fumed at the person filming.

In the end, Swash rocked up five hours later than planned and leaving her to juggle planning her perfume launch while also looking after their three youngest children who are not yet in full-time education.

This meant she had to apologise to the fragrance team as their meeting was interrupted by the presence of the kids.

When Swash finally appeared, he tried to blame an accident on the road, causing him to be 20 minutes late. She was having none of it and pointed out he was actually five hours late.

Former EastEnders actor Swash and Solomon have been together since 2016 after they met while appearing on the 10th series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2010. They have been married since 2022.
