Joe Rogan explains why he will turn down any exhibition fight offers

Joe Rogan has no interest in jumping on the social media trend of turning his celebrity into a fighting career, despite his vast experience.

The UFC commentator and stand-up comedian is one of the most popular podcasters in the world, and a wildly influential celebrity. But he doesn't want to follow the likes of Logan Paul and KSI into the ring, even though he has years of training in kickboxing and jiu-jitsu.

Rogan admires the late-career resurgences of the likes of Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather, who have competed in mega-money exhibitions long after retiring from their professional careers. But he believes that he's too old to accept any sort of offer to compete, even against a fellow influencer or celebrity.

He still feels that he could win fights, but doesn't have any interest, saying during a recent episode of his podcast: “I’m too banged up. I’m too old. I’m not interested anymore. Probably I could f*** some people up. I’m not interested."

Rogan has been impressed particularly by Tyson, watching him return to face Roy Jones Jr in November 2020. Now, it's being rumoured that he will face one of the Paul brothers Jake and Logan, whose combined ages are less than his.

“Some guys can keep it up," Rogan continued. "Like Floyd, 45 years old looks f***ing amazing. The best example is Mike Tyson. He is 55 years old and they’re still talking about him fighting either Logan or Jake Paul. Like that is crazy. And I don’t know what would happen.

“You know what’s crazy? Floyd is still doing these exhibitions making millions. He was holding the ring card girl’s cards and walking around. He held up the card between rounds and Floyd walked around with the card, he put on a show.

"It’s really smart. Because he’s given them their money’s worth. It’s not just a boxing exhibition. He’s putting on a show. He’s laughing and dancing. He’s got a big smile on his face while the fights going on.”

It appears that Jake Paul has a particular interest in fighting Tyson, telling Mirror Fighting that he would rather face the former heavyweight champion than his long-time rival Tommy Fury. The younger Paul brother will return to the ring on August 13, with Fury and UFC legend Anderson Silva the front runners to be his opponent.

"He's still hitting the pads like crazy, still a killer, still in phenomenal shape," Paul said in an exclusive sit-down interview last month. "He'd have a big weight advantage, 20 or 30lb essentially, it's growing in his gut. It would be a good fight, obviously he has way more experience than me.

"This would be the most legendary fight. For my legacy, it would be the most fun for me, the most motivating and sell the most pay-per-views. To share the ring with a legend would be something I could talk about for the rest of my life and share with my kids. So why fight Tommy Fury when you can fight Mike Tyson?"
