Joe Rodon has almost completed his medical in Paris ahead of his loan move to Ligue 1 side Rennes, football.london understands.
The 24-year-old Wales international is closing in on the switch to the French side in a season-long deal which is expected to include an option to buy the centre-back from Tottenham next summer. Rodon undertook his medical in Paris on Monday morning and the Ligue 1 outfit are just waiting for the final results and paperwork for it to be completed.
The transfer could be announced within the next 24 hours if all of the paperwork is completed with Rodon expected to travel across to Rennes this afternoon to sign his contract with the French side. The Welshman was left out of the Spurs squad that travelled to Israel to play Roma so he could finalise his loan move.

Rodon signed from Swansea in 2020 but has been unable to get a run of games in the Tottenham side under the four managers he has had in that short time period, making just 15 Premier League appearances with unfortunately timed injuries not helping his cause as he attempted to play and train through fractured ribs last season.
Antonio Conte told football.london out in Israel about the defender: "Joe Rodon is another good player and don't forget that in November there is the World Cup and many players want to play and play regularly. Also to prepare themselves for this important competition. I think that when the thoughts from the club and the players are the same we try to find the best solution for both."
Despite his lack of Spurs starts, Rodon has been in fine form for Wales and drew interest this summer from teams in Italy as well as England. The decision to join Rennes is understood to have been made with one eye on the long-term future for the defender.
A move to Ligue 1 and Rennes might seem an unusual destination for the Welshman. However, along with Ajax, the French club are one of the most scouted sides in the European game because of their recruitment and development success. In recent seasons alone, Ousmane Dembele, Eduardo Camavinga, Mathys Tel, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Raphinha, Nayef Aguerd, Edouard Mendy and Ismaila Sarr have all been snapped up for bigger moves and Rodon will be looking to get regular game time ahead of the World Cup while turning plenty of heads.
