Joe Hugill scored a brace for Manchester United's Under-21s against Liverpool in the Premier League 2 on Saturday afternoon.
The match was originally scheduled to be played on Sunday at 1:00pm, which meant it wouldn't have clashed with the Manchester derby at Old Trafford, but it's understood the fixture was moved due to overseas tournament arrangements.
The U21s endured a difficult start to the season, but they claimed their second win of the Premier League 2 campaign against Fulham last week and they were able to follow that result with another three points against Liverpool at Leigh Sports Village.

Although Liverpool opened the scoring within five minutes, it didn't take long for United to respond after some positive work from Isak Hansen-Aaroen, who created an opening for Hugill from close range, which he couldn't miss from.
That simple equaliser from centre-forward Hugill meant the score was level at the break and a strong United team, which saw Brandon Williams and Zidane Iqbal making the starting line-up, searched for a winning goal in the second half.
In the 78th minute, Hugill managed to find the back of the net again with substitute Mateo Mejia providing an assist after an impressive run from the right wing. The goal was Hugill's fourth goal of the season in just his fifth appearance.
The 19-year-old striker was forced to miss the start of the campaign through injury and his return has been warmly welcomed.
Charlie McNeill started the majority of games in Hugill's absence but he's scored four goals in 17 appearances in the academy this season and it's understood the club are open to sending out the youngster on loan this January transfer window.
XI vs Liverpool: Vitek, Jurado, Kambwala, Hardley, Williams, Iqbal, Savage, Emeran, Hansen-Aarøen, Forson & Hugill.
Subs: Pye, Mastny, Mejia (56'), McNeill, Collyer (84').
