Joe Gomez hailed the attitude of the Liverpool squad after a much-changed side selected by Jurgen Klopp claimed all three points away at Newcastle on Saturday lunchtime. The 24-year-old started in place of Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back in the North East.
Mohamed Salah briefly moved to the top of the Premier League as Naby Keita's first half finish was enough to seal the victory with Gomez, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara all on the bench against Eddie Howe's side.
Klopp will take his Liverpool side to Spain next as the Reds take on Villareal in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night. With a 2-0 lead, Liverpool are 90 minutes away from their third European final in five years.

Gomez was interviewed after the game after being given a rare opportunity to play 90 minutes in the Premier League this season.
"The attitude amongst the camp to stay at it, I think it was five changes or so," said Gomez. "We've got a massive game in midweek and it's good to allow some of the boys to get fresh legs. It's only half-time over there so we know it's not going to be easy. As a collective, all of the lads staying fit this year and having such a strong squad has been massive.
"We knew it wasn't going to be easy, it's a tough place to come, the atmosphere is unbelievable and they're under new management. You can see that they've vastly improved and we knew that. I think we ground out the result and it wasn't easy, but we got the three points."
The England international was full of praise for Liverpool's number eight after his goal: "That's Naby's ability and his quality to stay calm under pressure in that situation. I think our team has got so much quality in the midfield and going forward, we know we're going to create chances. Obviously, we didn't put many away, but the main thing is that it was a great finish from Naby.
"The most important thing was the three points, we knew it wasn't going to be easy. The boys gave us a platform to get the goal and the three points. As a unit, we did well and ground it out."
