Joe Gelhardt Leeds to Rangers transfer interest 'remains'

Rangers reportedly remain interested in a loan move for Leeds United attacker Joe Gelhardt this January.

It's claimed that a number of clubs were left disappointed by the Championship side's reluctance to let the 22-year-old go out on loan in the summer.

And the Yorkshire Evening Post claims that a host of the same clubs have expressed a desire to sign the forward with the January transfer window approaching.

The window opens in around five weeks and the report credits Rangers with an interest in Gelhardt.

They are listed among several Championship clubs and foreign outfits, with as many as 10 teams looking to sign the frontman.

Some of the teams mentioned include; Portsmouth, Stoke City, Plymouth Argyle, Preston North End and a couple of Belgian clubs.

The report states that Celtic held an interest in Gelhardt last January. Talks took place, but no deal came close to happening.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke previously said of the player: "Joffy is a proper part of our group and has played several games and minutes, and at the moment the group is definitely not too big and at the moment I am not tempted to give any more players away.

"Now we want to keep more or less the group and strengthen the squad, we are not tempted to give players away, also not in offensive positions."

The report concludes that there is a desire on the player's side to go out on loan at the next available opportunity.
