Joe Cole praises outstanding Sofyan Amrabat as Liverpool 'interest' emerges

Joe Cole described Sofyan Amrabat's performance in Morocco's win over Spain in the last 16 of the World Cup as "outstanding".

The Morocco holding midfielder was everywhere in the middle of the pitch as the game ended 0-0 despite Spain being strong favourites to go through. A 3-0 victory in the shootout secured progress for Amrabat's side.

Liverpool have been linked with making a move for the Fiorentina midfielder as Jurgen Klopp looks to rejuvenate the Reds in the middle of the park.

Former England international Cole spoke on ITV after the Morocco's superb victory: "Amrabat, outstanding. As good a holding midfielder we’ve seen at the tournament in terms of defensive instinct.

"The two centre halves, heroes - four centre halves as they both had to come off - and they still was there, unbelievable performance."

The Reds have been linked with the 26-year-old recently, but the Serie A side aren't in favour of letting him leave easily.
