Joe Burrow’s numbers vs. NFL’s best teams continue to be impressive

The Cincinnati Bengals go as Joe Burrow goes and that has never been more apparent than over the last two weeks.

Over those two outings, Burrow has looked downright elite while getting the best of contenders San Francisco and Buffalo.

An offer for Bengals fans

That would seem to suggest the Bengals are right back as Super Bowl contenders and Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus just did an interesting exercise to prove it. Tallying up Burrow’s games against Buffalo, San Francisco, Kansas City, non-injured Tennessee matchups and Baltimore over the last few years, the numbers show the following:

Part of the mystique of elite players is making things happen on the biggest occasions, and Joe Burrow has been virtually flawless in those games. His overall PFF grade in the above contests is 92.6, and he has 35 touchdowns to eight interceptions while averaging 7.8 yards per attempt with a 105.0 passer rating. Burrow has been at his best against the best opposition since the Bengals have been contenders.

It’s a nice bit of numbers to back up the eye test, which shows that Burrow is wicked good when it matters most and against the best teams.

And for Bengals fans, it’s certainly a nice bit of data to see, considering the remaining schedule this year, which features four more divisional games, as well as showdowns with the likes of Jacksonville.
