This early in the summer, the silly things tend to take the spotlight before training camps really start around the NFL.
And that’s certainly true for the Cincinnati Bengals with Joe Burrow’s microwave stepping into said spotlight.
Reporters are finally back in locker rooms and one of the small details that immediately went public from Paul Brown Stadium? Burrow’s got a personal microwave at his locker, which he even lets teammates use, per Sports Illustrated’s Elise Jesse.
Doesn’t sound like much, but Burrow wasn’t permitted access to the cafeteria during his rookie season due to COVID protocols, so he used that microwave in combination with his personal chef to remain on a strict diet.
While it sounds like something of a meme, most players don’t have personal microwaves at their locker and it’s just one of those little anecdotes that helps explain the whole that is Burrow’s dedication and success to early as a pro. So does his choosing to run extra sprints at OTAs, for example.
