Joe Burrow Reveals How He’d Like Contract Extension With Bengals to Work Out

The Bengals and Joe Burrow are continuing to work towards a long-term contract this offseason, the star quarterback shared on Tuesday.

Not many details have come out about what the contract extension may entail, and now Burrow is explaining why that is. The quarterback admitted in his Tuesday press conference that the two parties are planning to keep the discussions between them until something is officially figured out.

“I’m involved. That’s in the works,” Burrow said. “That’s not really something that I like to play out in the media. Just the way I think they want to do business, I want to do business, we prefer to keep that between us.”

Even with Burrow sharing no details with reporters, it sounds like the two sides are nearing an agreement for the Pro Bowler.

“I’m pretty clear on what I want in the contract and what I think is best for myself and the team,” Burrow said. “So, we’re on the road to making that happen.”

The Bengals picked up Burrow’s fifth-year option on his rookie contract back on April 25, meaning the quarterback is guaranteed $29.5 million in 2024. He is currently entering his fourth year in the league.

Talks of a massive contract extension for Burrow started in January when NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Bengals were expected to offer the QB. Star quarterbacks such as Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Kyler Murray all received significant contract extensions ahead of their fourth seasons in the league.
