Perhaps the most important event from Friday’s preseason opener for the Cincinnati Bengals actually occurred before the game itself.
Buy Bengals TicketsThere, quarterback Joe Burrow warmed up with the team and did some sprints before kickoff. That’s arguably the most strenuous thing onlookers have seen Burrow do since his appendectomy.
Burrow had previously done some light throwing at practice. Paired with this, it’s pretty clear he’s nearing a full-blown return right along the expected timetable.
“He’s been running and doing some stuff like that. I think he’s getting better every single day,” Bengals head coach Taylor said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I wouldn’t think (they’d sign a new one), but it’s hard to see. Brandon feels pretty good right now. We’ll just see where we he’s at and assess that and figure out where we need to go.”
Burrow doesn’t figure to play in the preseason regardless of his health, but getting on the same page as his offense after the installs early in camp will be an obvious objective for the rest of the summer.
By far, the most strenuous activity we’ve seen from Joe Burrow since the start of training camp.
