Joe Burrow Participating in Bengals Practice for First Time Since Injury

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has returned to practice for the first time since straining his calf in late July, multiple reporters confirmed. Burrow was seen walking to the field with pads and a helmet ahead of Cincinnati’s practice session on Wednesday.

Burrow has been sidelined since he was carted off the field with a strained calf during practice in July. Though the Bengals starter is expected to be ready for Week 1, he missed all three of Cincinnati’s preseason games this summer.

Behind Burrow on the depth chart is Jake Browning on the active roster, and the recently acquired Will Grier on the practice squad, both of whom walked to practice with Burrow on Wednesday. Browning has yet to appear in an NFL game while Grier played in two games for the Panthers back in 2019.

In 2022, Burrow threw for 4,475 yards with 35 passing touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Cincinnati opens the season vs. the Browns on Sept. 10, and with Burrow officially back at practice, he should have more than enough time to prepare for the start of the season.
