Joe Burrow named FedEx Air Player of the Year

The NFL Honors were a big success for the Cincinnati Bengals in multiple ways.

One of those was finally seeing a second former member of the franchise elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, with Ken Riley’s long wait finally ending.

Another was quarterback Joe Burrow taking home the honor of being named the FedEx Air Player of the Year (Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs won the ground-based award).

Over 16 games, Burrow completed 68.3 percent of his passes for 4,475 yards and 35 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. This was an aerial-based award, but it’s worth pointing out he ran for 257 yards and five scores, too.

Burrow didn’t fare well in MVP voting despite being a nominee, as the honor went to Patrick Mahones of the Chiefs. But he didn’t walk away empty-handed, either, which speaks to the resounding success of his season.
