Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow just missed the top five outright during NFL Network’s Top 100 countdown.
The list, voted on by players, slots Burrow above Bills quarterback Josh Allen (8) but behind Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (3) and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (1).
It’s a big jump for Burrow all the way up from last year’s 21st slotting, which is impressive considering he had the strong season coming off a ruptured appendix right before Week 1.
NFL.com’s Coral Smith on the slotting:
Burrow remains one of the best young quarterbacks in the game, finishing top-five in most major passing categories and placing second in completion percentage (68.3), TDs (35) and passing yards per game (279.7). All this earned Burrow his first Pro Bowl nod and a fourth-place finish in Most Valuable Player voting. Cincinnati is expected to reward his play handsomely with an imminent extension that could put him among the highest-paid at his position.
Ja’Marr Chase fell to 39th this year, while Trey Hendrickson made the top 75.
"You can talk stuff to Joe all day. He'll laugh it off, give you the smirk, and then dime you up."@JoeyB has entered the top 10 of the countdown 📈
