Joe Burrow is elite in clean pockets — and he’ll have them often in 2022

With the Cincinnati Bengals having completely made over their offensive line since the start of free agency, highlighted by the addition of La’el Collins, it’s a good time to remind folks that quarterback Joe Burrow was one of the best quarterbacks in the league in 2021 when working from a clean pocket.

Back in December, Burrow entered the month tied with Buccaneers QB Tom Brady with a 92.8 grade, which was the best at the time among quarterbacks under a clean pocket.

Not only that, but Burrow also led the league in 20+ yard touchdowns and had the highest grade against the blitz entering December.

And this was with a hodgepodge of names in front of him on the offensive line. Now the Bengals have Ted Karras at center, Alex Cappa at right guard and La’el Collins at right tackle to go along with Jonah Williams at left tackle and whoever emerges at left guard.

If Burrow was able to do what he did last season with what he did have in 2021, imagine what he’ll now be able to do with what he’s going to have in 2022.
