Joe Burrow explains why he reaches out to Aaron Rodgers, elite QBs

It turns out Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is the one who reached out to Aaron Rodgers after suffering his calf injury that started over the summer and was re-aggravated recently.

This week, Rodgers had said he talked with Burrow about the issue, but it was Burrow himself revealing that he reached out — and it’s not just Rodgers.

Burrow says that the fact Rodgers battled a similar issue in the past and played through it was a big part of the reason.

“We connected last week. He’s dealt with calf issues his whole career and (I) wanted to use him as a resource and get his thoughts, what he might have done,” Burrow said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I think I take into account what he has to say. He’s been through it, done that. And he was great about it. So, going to continue to use that as a resource. He’s a great guy. Whenever you have a guy like that, that’s willing to help, you’re going to use it.”

But Burrow also said that building relationships in the sport is important to him, too. Rodgers is just one of an unknown number he has connected with over the years.

“It takes a certain kind of person to get to this point and have success and I think that’s what we all have in common,” Burrow said. “When you get together you can talk like you know each other even though you really don’t. Because everybody has respect for everybody that gets to this point.

It’s just a small look behind the scenes as to what makes Burrow tick, but an interesting one that would seem to explain quite a lot.

Like Rodgers, Burrow intends to keep playing through the injury and hoping it can get back to 100 percent in the process. The Bengals got some good news on this topic on the injury report, too.
