Joe Burrow doesn't plan to spend a penny when he copies Tom Brady contract

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has stated that he does not plan to even touch his money earned from his NFL paychecks - even when he gets his extension.

The 2020 first overall pick in the NFL Draft has quickly developed into one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and merits the discussions on his huge extension getting underway after a stellar start to his career.

After taking the Bengals to the Super Bowl in 2021, being defeated by the Los Angeles Rams, another incredible season followed up as he led the Bengals back to the AFC Championship game where they were beaten by Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Burrow is now one of the biggest draws in the league and that has brought the former Heisman Trophy winner much attention on and off the field, with the 26-year-old having huge endorsement deals with Nike and Bose.

Having already made $36 million from the NFL, Burrow has stated that he does not plan on spending any of his contract money - living off of his endorsements.

He told reporters: "I don't plan on spending any money. I’m just gonna live off the marketing money and let that accrue in my bank account."

An extremely mature individual, Burrow is showing all the signs that his focus is in the right place as he enters his fourth year in the league.

In recent weeks, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts briefly became the highest-paid player in NFL history, with Baltimore Ravens giving Lamar Jackson a deal that eclipsed that.

Burrow can make an extremely strong case that he's deserving of more than both, but he's unlikely to ask for that.

Like Tom Brady, the 26-year-old could go down the route of taking less money to keep key players on the team - with JaMarr Chase and Tee Higgins up for extensions.

Burrow said on his contract: "Whenever you have guys on the team that need to be paid, that's always on your mind. You want that to be a focal point, so we're working to make that happen."
