Joe Burrow Carted Off With Calf Injury at End of Bengals Practice

After seeing Jets wideout Garrett Wilson and Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey suffer apparent injuries earlier in the day, Bengals fans are now holding their breath after seeing star quarterback Joe Burrow carted off the practice field on Thursday.

On a play in the latter stages of practice Thursday, Burrow was scrambling to the near side of the field when he pulled up lame suffering a non-contact injury. After being tended to by members of the team’s training staff, he limped over to the cart and was driven off the field.

Shortly after the practice concluded, Bengals coach Zac Taylor told reporters that Burrow had sustained a calf injury.

Burrow, who is entering his fourth season, has reportedly been close to signing a contract extension that would make him potentially the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. The former LSU standout, who was the No. 1 pick in 2020, has compiled a 24–17–1 record as the Bengals starter.

Taylor didn’t have too much information to provide since the injury had “just happened ten minutes ago” when he spoke with the media. He did clarify that the injury had nothing to do with the fact that Burrow was wearing a sleeve today on his right calf when he went down.

While bringing out the cart is hopefully precautionary, seeing one of the best players in the NFL need assistance to get off the field is massive news and bears watching going forward.
