Joe Biden Ireland: Full details on traffic restrictions in Dublin city as US President visits Phoenix Park and Dail Eireann

Traffic restrictions for President Joe Biden's visit to Dublin have been released.

The US President will arrive into Ireland this evening as Air Force One lands in Belfast. He will be making his way to Dublin on Wednesday afternoon and will be visiting Aras an Uachtarain and Dail Eireann.

As previously reported by Dublin Live, the Phoenix Park and Dublin Zoo will be shut to the public from 5pm tomorrow. Now gardai have released a detailed traffic update on what to expect in the capital this week.

Dublin City:

There are no public events in the Dublin Region.

Dublin City Centre remains open for business.

The 46th President of the United States of America will arrive at Dublin Airport on the afternoon of the 12th April. Normal operations will continue at Dublin Airport at all times, however members of the public, travelling through Dublin Airport at this time, should allow additional time to arrive at the airport due to possible additional security patrols in the vicinity of Dublin Airport.

The following Traffic Management measures, for security reasons, will be put in place:

  • From 0700hrs (7am) Tuesday 11th April Earlsfort Terrace is closed to traffic, pedestrian access to businesses on Earlsfort Terrace via Hatch Street only (until Saturday 15th April)
  • From 0700hrs (7am) Tuesday 11th April until Saturday the 15th April, parking will be prohibited at the following locations. The majority of these streets already have daily parking restrictions (clearways, double yellow lines etc…)

  • Hatch Street Lower – Limited provision will be made for disabled drivers who are attending the National Concert Hall (NCH). Application should be made in advance to the NCH for a permit.
  • From 1700hrs (5pm) Wednesday to 1700hrs (5pm) Thursday 13th April – Phoenix Park will be closed to all access, traffic and pedestrians.
  • Arrangements are in place for local access (work/ business/ residents ONLY/ NO recreational access)
  • From 1900hrs (7pm) Wednesday 12th April 2023 until evening Thursday 13th April 2023 road closures will be in place at the following locations:

Kildare Street
Molesworth St
Merrion Street
Merrion St Upper
Fitzwilliam Lane
School House Lane*
Merrion Sq West
Merrion Sq South

  • School House Lane can be accessed from Molesworth Street only.
  • From 0800hrs (8am) Thursday 13th April road closures will be in place at the following locations:

Ship Street
Castle Street
Palace Street (closed to pedestrians)

  • On the afternoon of Friday 14th April the 46th President of the United States of America will depart Dublin Airport for Ireland West Airport. Normal operations will continue at Dublin Airport at all times, however members of the public, travelling through Dublin Airport at this time, should allow additional time to arrive at the airport due to possible additional security patrols in the vicinity of Dublin Airport.
