Joe Aribo jumps Rangers transfer gun as he confirms Ibrox exit in emotional letter to fans

Joe Aribo has taken to social media to thank Rangers for being part of the 'special club' as he bid farewell to the Ibrox side.

The Light Blues star has jumped ahead of his club side to confirm his departure - without revealing his next move as he gets set to join Southampton in the English Premier League. Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirmed earlier this week that the midfielder - who had entered the final 12 months of his contract - was set to leave for England's top flight with a move set to happen in the 'near future'. The midfielder was a key member of the top team at Rangers since his arrival from Charlton Athletic in 2019.

Steven Gerrard brought him from England and after three years at Ibrox he has signed off for a new challenge back down south. A potential deal could reach £10million with add-ons and a sell-on clause included with the initial fee around £6m. Aribo was instrumental in Rangers' run to the Europa League Final last season and the Scottish Cup success over Hearts. Signing off from Ibrox, he wrote on Twitter: "It's been an amazing journey being part of this special club.

"I wish the club nothing but the best for the future & I'll always be checking in. Joe Aribo."
