Swansea City have completed the signing of Joe Allen.
The Wales star was a free agent after being released by Championship rivals Stoke City earlier this summer and opted against signing a new contract with the Potters. Flynn Downes' big money move to West Ham United paved the way for Allen has returned to his boyhood club.
The central midfielder travelled to Swansea on Thursday and underwent a medical at the club's Fairwood training ground on Friday. And he has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Swans.

Allen has been given the iconic number seven jersey previously worn by midfield icon Leon Britton and club legend Alan Curtis. The signing serves as a major coup for Russell Martin as his side beat off interest from a raft of other clubs.
A total of 11 Championship sides are understood to have shown an interest in securing the services of Allen this summer while several others abroad - particularly in Spain - explored the option of taking Allen on board. RCD Mallorca are understood to have made Allen an offer, although the 32-year-old was eager to return to the club where he started his professional career 15 years ago.
Allen becomes Swansea's fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Matty Sorinola, Harry Darling and Nathan Wood. Head coach Martin remains in the market for a right wing-back.
