Jody Morris sends Kai Havertz and one other Chelsea player 13-word message after Newcastle win

Former Chelsea assistant manager Jody Morris has congratulated Kai Havertz and Jorginho for 'amazing' goal to gift Thomas Tuchel's side a win against Newcastle.

After a rather tight contest, a sublime pass from the Blues' number 5 in the 89th minute was taken in a brilliant fashion by the in-form German, who poked his effort past Martin Dubravka to the roar of the Stamford Bridge faithful.

It was a goal that demonstrated real character from a team who could have easily been distracted after what has gone on off the pitch since Roman Abramovich was sanctioned earlier this week.

Many fans have waxed lyrical once again about the £70 million man who is finding his feet on a consistent basis for the Blues since he was given a run of games from the start, amid Romelu Lukaku's dip in form and fortunes since the FIFA Club World Cup.

Even Tuchel let off a big roar when the final whistle was blown after a evenly contested battle in SW6 which easily could have gone either way.

But one of the first people of real note to send their message to the aforementioned duo for their vital contribution right at the death was Lampard's former assistant Morris.

The Englishman was tuned in to see how the Blues were to have fared in the wake of the drama that has encapsulated the club in a negative way in the last few days.

He summed up his feelings to the winning goal with his tweet on his Twitter account @morriskid: 'What a pass from Jorgy and amazing first touch and finish from Kai [followed by two emojis].'

The goalscorer and the man who has warmed to the hearts of the Chelsea fans very quickly since his Champions League and Club World Cup heroics summed up how he was feeling after that big moment.

"Amazing to score like this. It was very tough. They made life for us hard. it was tough upfront as they had big defenders, to block or foul us.," he said to Sky Sports.

"At half-time we spoke about it, we dug in, we tried to give our best. In the end, it's a brilliant win for us."

Jamie Redknapp, who disagreed with the German on the red card issue, did follow Morris in Suit to praise the duo who combined for the goal.

He said: "The pass from Jorginho is absolutely exquisite and Havertz, albeit lucky to be on the pitch, the goal is a lovely touch. I like what Jorginho does as he gets in that pocket but it is if he can execute it. It is an absolutely brilliant all round piece of play but do not underestimate the pass, that makes the goal."

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who made a name for scoring great goals for the Blues like Havertz, has now on multiple occasions followed on by stating how difficult it would have been for the 22-year-old to do what he did.

"It is not easy. If you want that chance to get to somebody, it is Havertz because he already knows what he wants to do and how to execute it," the former Chelsea striker said in his post-match analysis on Sky Sports.

"A moment before that, Werner had a chance before that but tried to take it on his thigh, because he does not trust his feet, Havertz does and that earlier miss did not effect him. At the moment, he is playing his best football in a Chelsea shirt."
