Jodie Comer fans face ticket chaos as Prima Facie tour sells out in minutes

Jodie Comer in the award-winning Prima Facie - (Helen Murray)

Jodie Comer's one-woman play Prima Facie sparked a ticketing frenzy as the British star gears up for a UK and Ireland tour in 2026.

The Killing Eve star, 32, will take the award-winning production on the road, including a stop in her hometown of Liverpool.

Comer first portrayed Tessa, a young barrister who defends men accused of rape until she is assaulted herself, in 2022 for her West End debut, later reprising the role on Broadway.

The play deals with issues of sexual assault within the judicial system – raising questions about consent and where the burden of proof lies.

Fans eager to see Comer's return were left upset when general sale tickets launched on Thursday.

Thousands found themselves stuck in long virtual queues, with many calling the process “impossible” after the site crashed. Once back online, tickets sold out in just 15 minutes.

Many took to X to voice their frustration, with one person calling it “one of the worst ticketing experiences I've ever had” while trying to secure Prima Facie tickets.

“Public booking was sold out by 10.05. It would appear that unless you are a member/ friend, there is virtually no chance of purchasing tickets,” another shared. “This doesn't feel very equitable.”

“Seems like the tens of thousands of people in the line for #primafacie tickets have managed to crash the Liverpool Playhouse's website Good luck everyone even though it seems like a lost cause at this point,” a disappointed tweeted.

A third added: “25,000 in the queues for a venue with less than 1000 capacity. I’ve got no chance of getting in to see Prima Facie.”

Another frustrated fan suggested: “Bring back old fashioned refreshing and good luck for tickets rather than queues with no hope.”

Upset over nabbing tickets aside, Comer said earlier this month that it is a “huge privilege” to return to the stage for a UK and Ireland tour of Prima Facie.

She said: “It is a huge privilege to return to Prima Facie for one last time and take this important play on tour across the UK and Ireland.

“The resonance of Suzie Miller’s writing, both in London and New York, exceeded anything we could have imagined.

“I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to get the team back together and take the production to theatres around the country, including my hometown of Liverpool.

“On a personal note, I can’t think of a better finale to what has been such an incredible and deeply rewarding chapter in my life.”

The production was written by Suzie Miller who won an Olivier Award in 2023 for Best New Play after its hit West End debut.

Comer won the Natasha Richardson Award for Best Actress at the 2022 Evening Standard Theatre Awards for her performance.

She went on to win the 2023 Olivier Award and a Tony Award following her performance on the West End and Broadway.

The production will open in London at Richmond Theatre on Friday January 23, 2026 before moving on to a further eight venues including Dublin, Edinburgh, and Cardiff.

Prima Facie will then move to York, Bath, Canterbury, and Birmingham before it wraps up in Comer’s hometown of Liverpool on Saturday March 21.
