A Jodie Burrage rally with Coco Gauff wowed spectators during the Australian Open 2nd round clash in Melbourne on Wednesday.
Those in attendance at the Rod Laver Arena were certainly given their monies worth during the match. Burrage earned a hard-fought point during the end-to-end rally but ultimately bowed out to Gauff.
The number 3 seed had to be at her very best to see off the Brit. In the end, Gauff clinched a straight sets victory winning 6-3 7-5.
In 2023 when the duo last met on grass, Burrage only won two games but she made much more of a go at it this time around.
The 25-year-old played some of her best Grand Slam tennis to push Gauff all the way. In the earlier stages of the clash, it appeared that the American would advance to round three with considerable ease.

Burrage certainly did her country proud with her exertions on court. Especially as she missed the majority of last season owing to wrist and ankle injuries.
Despite her exit, Burrage was part of the group of Brits who made history at the tournament. For the first time ever, six stars playing under the Union Jack flag all advanced to round two.
Midway through the second set is when the extraordinary Jodie Burrage rally came about. The score was 3-3 in games with Coco Gauff leading by two points in the seventh.
Burrage fired in her serve and then the incredibly 17-shot extravaganza ensued. Gauff couldn’t have done too much more to win the point against her stubborn opponent.
The 25-year-old Brit returned everything Gauff had to offer. There was even one effort that appeared to have lobbed Burrage but she was able to reach it.
An exquisite display of tennis finally saw the point won when Burrage’s fine forehand was too much for Gauff to handle. Scroll down to watch the rally.
