Jobs double at coding trainer used by On the Beach, Evri and Sky Bet as revenue spikes

A software coding training provider used by the likes of On The Beach, Evri and Sky Bet has more than doubled its headcount.

Manchester-headquartered Northcoders has revealed its employees had increased to 84 as of June 30, 2022, up from 41 a year prior.

The AIM-listed company has also posted a revenue for the six months to the end of June of £2.36m, a rise from £1.08m for the same period to June 2021.

Northcoders has also posted a pre-tax profit of £118,176, up from £18,639. In the year to December 31, 2021, the company reported a revenue of £3m and a pre-tax loss of £523,588.

As well as its Manchester headquarters, the business has locations in Leeds, Newcastle and Birmingham.

Northcoders said it is on track to meet its targets for 2022 with trading in its third quarter "continuing at record levels".

Chief executive Chris Hill said: "More than doubling revenues in the first half of the year is testament to the growing reputation of Northcoders as one of the UK's leading technology training providers, with a business model that is able to evolve to meet the demands of individuals and corporates alike.

"The continuing government support for technology training serves to highlight the significant digital skills gap in the UK. The lack of qualified engineers is limiting the progress of businesses nationwide which in turn is holding back a domestic economic recovery.

"This is combined by a lack of diversity in the technology sector that requires immediate attention as it ultimately further limits the supply of quality engineers and impedes the levelling up agenda.

"A shortage of talent is simultaneously pushing sector salaries to all time highs and increasing the attractiveness of the career path and demand for Northcoders services.

"As the group moves into the second half of the year Northcoders is continuing to deliver on its growth strategy as a result of this unabated demand and there is significant confidence in the group's ability to provide all stakeholders with sustainable and profitable long term growth."
