Joao Palhinha: Fulham face anxious wait over shoulder injury as West Ham watch on

Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha is due to have a scan today amid fears he suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder during his side’s 3-2 friendly win over Brentford last night.

Palhinha fell awkwardly at the end of the first half and manager Marco Silva was not optimistic about his player’s condition.

He said: “Unfortunately, it doesn’t look good. Let’s see if it is serious but I hope it isn’t. He is doing his scan and it will be more clear soon.”

Losing Palhinha for a significant period would be a major blow for Fulham, but it may put off potential suitors. West Ham had a £45million bid rejected, while Liverpool are also interested.

Aleksandar Mitrovic was in attendance at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia — for a match settled by goals from Harry Wilson, Bobby Decordova-Reid and Carlos Vinicius — as Al-Hilal tabled a new bid for him.

Silva left the door open for Mitrovic to return, despite criticising his striker for not training with his team-mates. He said: “A player who is not running or on the pitch is not going to play — it is easy for me. If Mitrovic is available, I would like him to train.”

Raul Jimenez is set to join Fulham from Wolves in a £5m move but Silva insists he is not a direct replacement for Mitrovic.

Defenders Mohammed Salisu and Calvin Bassey are set to join from Southampton and Ajax respectively, while Fulham have agreed terms with winger Callum Hudson-Odoi but Chelsea are keen to push up his asking price.
