Joao Felix's preferred Premier League club emerges amid Arsenal and Chelsea transfer links

Joao Felix's preferred Premier League club has been revealed as rumours of a potential move to Arsenal refuse to fade.

Following a significant injury to star striker Gabriel Jesus during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the Gunners are thought to be keen on bolstering Mikel Arteta's attacking options throughout the January transfer window, while Chelsea have also been linked to the young attacker.

Whilst Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah all netted in the Gunners' 3-1 Boxing Day triumph over West Ham, the opportunity to add offensive depth could be critical in maintaining a current five-point gap over reigning Champions Manchester City at the Premier League's summit.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are thought to be keen on raising funds after failing to progress from the group stages of the UEFA Champions League in dramatic fashion. One source of revenue would, potentially, see a departure for Portuguese sensation Felix.

The Athletic's David Ornstein has confirmed that Arsenal would like to secure a loan deal for Felix but face one key obstacle to sealing a move for the Atletico Madrid star. "They [Arsenal] are keen to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid," Ornstein said.

"He's been offered to a number of clubs and at the moment the numbers are too high. Arsenal are keen to do it but the numbers would need to come down."

It is yet to be seen if Arsenal can tempt Felix to swap the Spanish capital for north London and it appears the Gunners, or any of their major 'top six' rivals for that matter, are not his favourite English club.

When asked to nominate his preferred English club during a quick-fire interview with Adri Contreras, Felix selected Leeds United.

The reasons quite as to why are currently unknown, though some suggest that admiration for former Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa could explain his fondness for the Elland Road outfit.

Even the most optimistic of Leeds fans, however, would admit they stand little chance of securing a signing of Felix's calibre as Jesse Marsch looks to stave off fears of relegation to the Championship.
