Joao Felix's Chelsea shirt number has been announced after making his switch to the club on loan from Atletico Madrid for the rest of the season. The Blues are said to be set to cover the Portugal international's wages from the La Liga club with a loan fee paid on top too.
The addition of Felix could come as a major boost to head coach Graham Potter, who has seen a nosedive in recent form at the club. The side sit 10th in the Premier League and have been knocked out of both domestic cup competitions, although injuries have decimated the squad available to the former Brighton manager.
Despite having up to 10 first-team players unavailable at one time, Potter was determined to claim that he won't use it to excuse his side's form. He said: "It’s been a real tough period, as challenging as it has been in my time as a coach, but we’re at Chelsea and people don’t want to hear those reasons or excuses. You’ve got to get on with it, and we’ve got to try our best to find the answers"

While there are some answers within the squad, the nature of January means that there's also the potential for solutions in the transfer market. With issues in scoring goals, Felix has been signed on loan from Atletico Madrid to help - though there is no option to buy clause included in the deal.
While he is a forward, his skillset better matches a playmaker, suiting the style of Potter more than perhaps Simeone's at Atleti. On his addition to Chelsea, Felix has been handed a new squad number which is the No. 11 shirt.
The number was most recently worn by Timo Werner, though the Blues will be hoping for more success from his successor that will own it. Club legends Didier Drogba, Oscar and Pedro have all recently taken the number on and guided the side to some success though as well as Dennis Wise and Damien Duff.
