Joao Felix has labelled Chelsea “one of the great teams in the world” after completing his loan move from Atletico Madrid.
The 23-year-old has joined the Blues for the rest of the season, after extending his deal at Atletico through to 2027.
Arsenal and Manchester United were among the other clubs interested in Felix, but he has opted to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea is one of the great teams in the world and I hope to help the team reach their objectives, so I am very, very happy to be here and very excited to play at Stamford Bridge,” Felix told the club’s official website.
The Blues will pay Atletico a £9m loan fee and cover Felix’s wages in full while he is in west London.
Graham Potter will hope his arrival can inspire Chelsea back to form and bring some life to a forward line that has looked badly short of confidence in recent weeks.
Chelsea sit tenth in the Premier League, with just 20 goals scored in their opening 17 matches of the season, and they are as close to the relegation zone as they are the top four.
It remains to be seen whether Felix will available to make his debut against Fulham on Thursday night, with the deadline for registering him midday on Wednesday.
