Dame Joan Collins has switched up her trademark big voluminous curls for a new sleeked stylish look. The Dynasty star is known for her signature bouncy locks and wispy fringe which has been her go to hair style since the 80's, when she played Alex Colby, the ex-wife of oil tycoon Blake Carrington, in the America TV soap.
Snapped heading out with friends for a meal, the actress looked very different yet glamorous as ever with her brunette locks sleeked back into a new flowy 1960's hair style, the Mirror reports. The 89-year-old icon took to Instagram to share her new look with her 293k followers as she wrote: "#greatfriends #nightout #favouritepeople #goodfood #wittyrepartee @louise.fennell @fennelltheo @charlesdelevingne @pandoradeleprivate #ahubby."
Earlier this year, it was reported the renowned TV and film actress had been admitted to hospital for 'intense pain' following a health scare. Dame Joan was treated in the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco in July after suffering from a pinched nerve in her leg.
However, she was soon on the mend and back at her luxurious home in St Tropez where she posted a video of herself dancing to Blondie in her huge outdoor pool. The actress, who seemed to be having a great time bopping away to Blondie's 1978 hit Heart of Glass, was filmed sporting a baby blue bikini with a sunhat on and sunglasses.
Her representative confirmed the good news that she is ''doing fine'' after her health scare, adding: The pain has been excruciating but fortunately she's dealt with it, and she's okay now." The rep also confirmed that Dame Joan is "enjoying the rest of her holiday in St. Tropez" as she recovers from her treatment but firmly added that pinched nerves are extremely ''painful things'.
However, the actress seemed unbothered by her recent health problem as she busted some moves and exclaimed: 'Yay, summer!' as her husband Percy Gibson, 57, was heard laughing behind the camera. In her upbeat caption, Dame Joan wrote: "Nothing like having #funinthesun! #poollife #southoffrance #poolside #hotweather #coolingoff."
Despite the pain and recovery time that comes from a pinched nerve, the star's rep said her injury will not inhibit her fashion whatsoever and that it is safe for her to continue to wear her impressive six inch heels. Pinched nerves can be severely painful and are caused by too much pressure applied to a nerve from surrounding tissues such as bones, cartilage, muscles or tendons.
Typical symptoms can also include numbness, tingling and overall weakness with rest being the number one cure although more serious cases can lead to surgery. Battling through her agonising injury, Dame Joan says she was grateful for all of the hospital staff that attended to her as she wrote: "Not fun! But they were great!"
