Aston Merrygold jokingly hit back at claims he's a political bad-luck charm this morning.
The JLS singer appeared on Good Morning Britain via a video message earlier today, following his appearance on the ITV show yesterday - just hours before Prime Minister Liz Truss sensationally resigned from her position after just 44 days in 10 Downing Street.
On Thursday's edition of the early-morning show, Kate Garraway reminded the singer how the last time he appeared on Good Morning Britain earlier this year, Boris Johnson stepped down as prime minister later in the day.
"So could the Aston effect be the same?" Kate as the JLS singer, as pressure mounted on Truss to resign following a series of gaffes and scandals.
Laughing, the recently-married star said: "I'm not causing all of this."
On today's show, a video message from Aston was played in the studio following Truss' resignation just hours after his appearance on Good Morning Britain yesterday.
"It's not my fault," Aston told viewers. "Good luck to whoever the next prime minister is...erm I'm a bit of an omen apparently."
He continued: "I'm off to Liverpool, but good luck to the next prime minister."
Elsewhere on today's show, Good Morning Britain viewers fumed as Stanley Johnson spoke with Kate and Adil about his son's potential return to frontline politics.
Stanley - who appeared on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2017 - didn't give any confirmation that his son is set make a major comeback but did admit Johnson 'didn't go quietly' when he stepped down from his position less than two month ago and has 'unfinished business'.
"I'm speaking as a voter but I'm going to make sure [Johnson] sticks to the 2019 manifesto and make sure he doesn't proceed with Jacob Rees-Mogg's absurd bill that would scrap environmental laws," the reality TV star continued.
"I'm hoping Boris would take a hard line with Mogg," he added, before declaring: "The Tories are trashing their environmental record - Boris made that record!"
"Please stop giving Stanley Johnson airtime. #gmb I don't care what he thinks," one angry tweet began, adding: "I don't recall you interviewing Liz Truss ' dad?"
Some questioned if the star had been let off a grilling, tweeting: "Stanley Johnson is being given the soft soap treatment on #gmb as if he’s a cuddly national treasure and as if we are meant to have forgotten what an odious character we know he is. And that’s before we even begin to talk about the rotten fruit of his loins."
