The Chicago Bulls got off to a slow, disappointing start to the season compared to being No. 1 in the East for the first-half of the season last year.
But, since the signing of veteran guard Patrick Beverley, the team has had an extra pep in their step as the postseason rapidly approaches.
On Monday’s episode of The Old Man and the Three with JJ Redick and Tommy Alter, Redick spoke on the ‘huge impact’ that Beverley brings to the Bulls.
“I wanna give Patrick Beverley a ton of credit here,” Redick said. “…he’s put them in a position to be in the playoffs.”
Since Beverley joined the Bulls, the team is 10-5 and looks to have supplanted themselves as a play-in team in the Eastern Conference.
“The reality is, Patrick Beverley makes a huge impact,” Redick said. “He makes a huge impact defensively. He makes a huge impact in the spirit of the team. He makes a huge impact in the cohesiveness of a basketball team.”
The defensive toughness that Pat Bev brings not only adds to an already solid defensive team in the Bulls in the second-half of the season, but gives Chicago a true veteran leader with a big voice in their locker room.
“Give the guy a lot of credit,” Redick said. “They’re a different team.”
