A fun women’s flyweight bout is in the works for an upcoming UFC card on June 4.
Following her UFC Fight Night 203 victory, JJ Aldrich mentionedErin Blanchfield as a potential next opponent that would be “a great fight” for her. Her wish has been granted as the pair are in the works to meet on June 4 for an event that does not yet have a confirmed location or venue.
MMA Junkie confirmed the news following an initial report from MMA Fighting. Both fighters have agreed to the bout, but contracts have not yet been issued.
Aldrich (11-4 MMA, 7-3 UFC), 29, defeated Gillian Robertson in March, notching her third-straight decision win, following victories over Vanessa Demopoulos and Cortney Casey. The Ultimate Fighter 23 veteran has gone the distance in all 10 UFC bouts.
On the other side, the 22-year-old Blanchfield (8-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has made a quick impression on the division. In two 2021 bouts, she defeated Sarah Alpar and Miranda Maverick via unanimous decision, landing her at the No. 15 spot in the promotion’s flyweight rankings. Blanchfield will enter the contest against Aldrich riding a five-fight win streak.
