Jimmy Kimmel took aim at Donald Trump and the end of his hush-money trial on last night’s edition of his late-night show.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host spoke about the former president’s New York City trial, where he faces multiple charges, which is coming to an end as the jury deliberates. Trump must stay in the courthouse to “sit there for hours farting next to the vending machine”.
Kimmel continued: “Trump is hoping for a hung jury. Of course he was also hoping for a hung Mike Pence but that didn’t happen.”
He said that the Trump camp had been talking up the trial being corrupt as he knows “he has no chance of an acquit because he did it”.
Footage of Trump has him calling the trial a disgrace and saying that even Mother Teresa wouldn’t be able to get free of the charges. “Even if Mother Theresa herself had sex with and paid off a porn star after a round of golf, even she would have trouble getting away with it,” Kimmel said.
He then joked that her death was “thanks to the corrupt New York attorney general”.
Trump has called the trial “BORING!” on Truth Social, “as if they’re supposed to be entertaining him”.
He was also “conveniently confused about standard courtroom procedure” as he claimed that the prosecution giving the final closing statement was a sign of favouritism. Kimmel said that “you don’t need to be a legal scholar to know” that it’s just how every trial ends.
He said all you need to do it watch the “last 10 minutes of any episode of Law & Order” to figure it out.
Kimmel joked that his wife Melania had not been at the trial because “it’s too hard for her to keep a straight face” yet his two older sons have been there.
After Robert De Niro showed up this week to criticise Trump, Donald Trump Jr gave a speech lambasting the Democrats, calling out just one actor turning up compared with the many that supported Biden before.
“Your father also had one actor at the trial and that actor was Joe Piscopo,” Kimmel responded.
A strange speech from Eric Trump also claimed that they would win because they are “all white” to which Kimmel quipped: “Some of you are white, one of you is orange.”
He also said he was proud to be there and proud of his father’s resilience. “Imagine being proud to be at your father’s porn star trial,” he said.
