It’s fun to play around with potential draft trades. But it can’t just be like, ‘Hey, the Raiders send a third-round pick to the Falcons to move up from No. 17 to 4 overall.’ While that sounds great for the Raiders, it’s just not realistic.
To get an idea of what is and isn’t a realistic trade scenario, people usually use either the Jimmy Johnson or, in recent years, the Rich Hill trade chart. So, to help you with your trades, here are those two charts. First up, Johnson’s trade chart.
Hill’s is the second chart below.
With the depth at offensive tackle, and the many needs the Raiders have, most trades I’ve seen involve Las Vegas trading down and adding another Round 2 pick.
The Raiders could get an additional second-round pick by dropping down 11 or 12 spots in the first round. If the Raiders threw in one of their third-round picks, they could get a second-round pick with a drop of just four or five spots. Tossing in their fourth-round pick would mean a drop of 7-9 spots.
Should the Raiders wish to trade up, one of their third-round picks would be worth a four-or-five-spot jump. Their second-round pick would get them inside the top 10. Both of their third-round picks would do likewise.
