Jimmy Garoppolo Passes Raiders Training Camp Physical, per Report

Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has passed his physical ahead of training camp after recovering from offseason foot surgery, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. Las Vegas will not place Garoppolo on the PUP list, allowing the quarterback to participate fully in practice.

After Garoppolo signed a three-year contract with the Raiders in March, the quarterback needed to undergo surgery to further repair his broken foot from last season. The surgery was serious enough that Las Vegas put a clause in the contract allowing them to waive Garoppolo without penalty if he couldn’t play this year.

Last year, Garoppolo played in 11 games for the 49ers, totaling 2,437 yards with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions before breaking his foot in a December game vs. the Dolphins. Garoppolo tried to return for the season, but San Francisco was eliminated from the playoffs before he could be cleared to play.

Garoppolo will replace Derek Carr as the Raiders' starting quarterback this season, the first time since 2013 that the team will have someone besides Carr taking the majority of the snaps under center. In 2022, Las Vegas had a 6-11 record and finished in third place in the AFC West.
