We’ve gotten two weeks of NBA regular-season action and things are already wild within the league.
Some teams are playing surprisingly well (San Antonio Spurs, Utah Jazz) and others are surprisingly underachieving (LA Clippers, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat). And depending on which teams fans are rooting for, they’re either panicking or having the times of their lives.
But despite the slow start over in South Beach for Erik Spoelstra’s squad, hope is not lost in the locker room.
Don’t believe me? Just ask veteran wing Jimmy Butler, who believes that the Heat (2-5 on the season) are still going to win this season’s NBA championship.

That’s right, Jimmy is calling an NBA championship and he doesn’t care who’s doubting his team.
Sportsbooks are certainly doubting the Heat. Miami’s preseason odds of winning an NBA championship were +1600 at BetMGM. Those odds have moved to +2200, which ranks eighth-best at the sportsbook.
I suppose now would be a great time to buy low if you’re a believer in the Heat.
I’m not one of those believers. The Heat entered this season with an inferior team to last season’s that failed even to make it to The Finals. And for as much as I believe in Jimmy there, I don’t believe in the rest of the roster enough to consider them for a championship.
Hot take — for the same price, I’d be more willing to bet on the Cleveland Cavaliers. As for the Heat, I’m out.
Sorry, Jimmy.
