Seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson showcased his racing prowess at the Daytona 500, finishing a remarkable third in the prestigious event. Johnson, a two-time Daytona 500 winner, drove a stellar final lap in his No. 84 Toyota at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday night, narrowly missing out on victory.

Despite falling short of the win, Johnson expressed a mix of relief and overwhelming emotions as he reflected on his performance. This marked his best finish in the Daytona 500 since his last win in 2013 and tied his best Cup Series finish since his final full season in 2020.

Notably, this impressive result came in Johnson's first year as the majority owner at Legacy Motor Club, where he has taken on a more significant role. Johnson's drivers, John Hunter Nemechek and Erik Jones, also delivered strong showings, with Nemechek finishing fifth and Jones in 12th position.

Speaking about his experience as an owner, Johnson expressed pride and satisfaction in the team's progress and the journey they are on. He emphasized his commitment to Legacy and the company's goals, highlighting the unique emotions that come with being both a driver and an owner.

Johnson's involvement with Legacy took a new turn during the offseason when he became the majority owner following a restructuring that involved a private equity firm. The NASCAR legend also received support from retired NBA star Shaquille O'Neal, who played a role in the team's performance at the Daytona 500.

Reflecting on his passion for racing, Johnson emphasized his dedication to the sport and the joy he finds in new experiences. Despite his illustrious career, Johnson continues to seek out challenges and push himself to achieve more.

Johnson's impressive performance on the track drew praise from fellow drivers, with Nemechek acknowledging Johnson's exceptional driving skills during the race. The NASCAR veteran's determination and skill were evident as he made a remarkable surge in the final lap, passing multiple cars to secure a third-place finish.

Although Shaquille O'Neal was unable to be present at the event, his support and influence were felt throughout the race, with Johnson expressing gratitude for the NBA icon's involvement. The team's strong showing at the Daytona 500, with a competitive Toyota car, left Johnson feeling proud and optimistic about the future.

Overall, Johnson's performance at the Daytona 500 highlighted his enduring talent and passion for racing, showcasing his ability to compete at the highest level and inspire those around him.
